You will have to use Command Prompt to enable hibernate mode on Windows 11. To do so, follow the steps given below-

Open the Start Menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. In the Start Menu, search for CMD. Right-click on the Command Prompt from the search result, and then click on Run as administrator. 

In the Command Prompt, type the command powercfg /availablesleepstates and hit Enter to execute it.

If the Hibernate option appears to be enabled then that means you need not enable it. If it appears to be disabled, then you will have to enable it.Type the command powercfg /hibernate on in the Command Prompt to enable the Hibernate mode on Windows 11.

In many systems, the hibernate feature may not be available. This may be due to various reasons that you may not be able to use this feature. Many times, the graphics card driver may not support hibernate power state while many times, the feature may be disabled in the UEFI.

Adding Hibernate Option To Power Menu

After you have enabled Hibernate mode, you will have to add the option to the power menu. To add hibernate option to the power menu, follow the steps given below-

Open the Start Menu and search for Control Panel. Click on Control Panel from the search result to open it.

In the Control Panel, head to the Hardware and Sound section, and then on the next screen click on Power Options. 

On the left sidebar, click on Choose what closing the lid does. This is for laptop, if you use a Desktop PC, then you can click on Choose what the power button do.Next, click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.

Now check the checkbox saying Hibernate, and then click on Save Changes. 

This will add the Hibernate option to the power menu, and you will see it whenever you open the Power Menu.

Configuring Hibernate Mode On Windows 11

You will have to configure the hibernate mode on Windows 11 to get the most out of the feature. To configure the Hibernate mode on Windows 11, follow the steps given below-

Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start Menu.

In the Start Menu, search for Control Panel and then click on it from the search result to open the Control Panel window on your PC.

In the Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound and then click on Power Options. 

Now, for the current power plan, click on Change plan settings. On the next screen, click on the Change advanced power settings option.

In the Power Options window, expand Sleep settings, and then expand the Hibernate after settings.Here, for the On Battery option, set the number of minutes of inactivity before your PC goes into hibernate mode while your laptop is on battery. Next, do the same for the Plugged in option.

Once done, click on Apply and then click on the OK button to save the changes.

If you want to set the power button to get your PC to hibernate mode, then you can do that as well. To set the power button to hibernate, follow the steps given below-

Open the Control Panel, and head to Hardware and Sound section. Here, click on the Power Options. Here, click on the Choose what closing the lid does (only for laptops) from the left sidebar.

If you want to set the Sleep button as the hibernate button, then click on the drop-down menu next to When I press the power button and set the option to Hibernate. Do this for On battery and for Plugged in. In case you want to set the sleep button for hibernating, then do the same for When I press the sleep button. 

Once done, click on the Save Changes button to save the changes.
